Survey of architecture: a way for the analysis and interpretation

Abstract

Generally, any restorer considers the works of the past as a document to valorize, but also as a proof of what happened, open to the interpretation
and to the critical comparison: the ancient works as documents to interpret and valorize and, at the same time, as monuments (cfr. J. Le Goff, 1978)
to preserve in order to ensure that they may produce knowledge. In both cases, the presence of the digital model (the possibility of manipulation
of data, storage, management ...) becomes an extraordinary opportunity to perpetuate the memory of the past and to understand the matter that has to be restored either through images or graphics that are easy to manage either through complex elaborates, able of rendering the features and the complexity of the works.
